Who can use go.mil?
- Go.mil request can be submitted by any Department of Defense (DoD) employee with a current Common Access Card (CAC). Login is federated to the existing DoD Office365 accounts. If you are having trouble authenticating to the application, please try to self enroll in the federation tenant using this link. Accounts should be automatically provisioned but sometimes errors prevent their federation.
- Go.mil shortened URLs are globally accessible across the internet and DoD NIPRNet.

- Support for this service is very limited and is supported on a best effort basis with no SLA. For basic questions and troubleshooting, please contact disa.ahi@mail.mil.
What does it cost to use go.mil?
- The service is currently free to DoD users.
How do I get a link shortened?
- Head to this link and fill out the request form. One this is done, an admin will reach out to you if any clarifying information is needed or in the event something needs to be changed. If no extra information is needed you should receive an email stating that your link is now shortened.
What software does go.mil run?
Do the links require CAC authentication?
- No. The links are open to the public internet and DoD NIPRNet. Access control will still need to be maintained on the application itself.
- CAC Auth / DoD O365 is required to submit a request form.
What are the requirements for the short name or “slug”?
- Short names or “slugs” must be application and organization specific. Simple words like FAQ, About, etc are too generic to shorten.
- Ex: USAF FAQ could be shortened to go.mil/usaffaq.
Can I shorten a non .mil URL?
- Yes, as long as it is related to the DoD organization or business. Justification for a non .mil site will have to be provided in the request. Request are subject to approval.
- Ex. https://webmail.apps.mil.mcas-gov.us could be shortened since it is part of a DoD O365 contract (https://go.mil/webmail).
Is go.mil a proxy?
- No. Go.mil does not proxy any data. Go.mil simply tells browsers to fetch another website (long URL) vs the short URL. Go.mil does not “bypass” the DoD IAP whitelist, application access controls or network restrictions.
What is the availability of the service?
- This service is supported on a best effort basis with no SLA. We strive to keep the application up to the maximum extent possible. Isitdown.mil has a service monitor available for the go.mil URLs.
